Most animal bite cases involve dogs. In Ontario, there is specific legislation to deal with dog bites, namely, the Dog Owner’s Liability Act. Essentially, and in most instances, a dog owner is responsible for the damages caused by the dog.
The injuries caused by animals can be serious as well as traumatizing and may result in various injuries including psychological trauma and scarring and disfigurement. If you or a loved one were attacked or bitten by a dog, try to secure as much information as possible about the dog (breed, distinguishing marks, collar) and the dog owner (the way they look, the vehicle they drove, the name they used to call the dog). Not being able to find the responsible dog owner is extremely frustrating.
